Fuzzy Wuzzy

Have you seen Sally Hansen’s new polish, Fuzzy Coat? We just saw it in the store today, although I think it’s been out for a couple of months. It seems to be a polish made with knitters in mind, with color names like “Tight Knit” and “All Yarned Up.” And it is actually fuzzy. There are little bits of fibers to give it a textured look, and feel, I think.

I have not actually tried it out. I don’t know if I will. I don’t tend to like textured polishes. But I might buy a bottle of Tight Knit just for the name.

From the reviews on the Sally Hansen website, it sounds like to get the best results, you should apply a clear or colored, smooth base coat. Without a base coat, the polish doesn’t cover the nail well, and it’s also much more difficult to take off. Then, if you like the look, but not the texture, a layer or two of topcoat should smooth it out some.

Again, I have not used this. I just saw it in the store and knew I had to share it. If you give it a try sometime, I’d like to hear what you think!

Clever like a kitsune

Back in June, I posted about a new design I was working on, the Kitsune cowl. I’m happy to say that I’ve finished the prototype, and have the pattern open for testing in the Free Pattern Testers group on Ravelry.

If you’re interested in testing it, please pop on over there!

I’m going to be ordering the yarn to make it in foxy colors soon, but I’ve decided I like these, too.

And that is me in the picture, sporting my brand new old people glasses. I got bifocals just in time for my 43rd birthday. I’m glad nerdiness is kind of fashionable right now, because I really like these frames, and the nerdy part certainly suits me.

This is the Fashion Police. Step away from the clothing rack with your hands up.

I really, really . . . really, really hate the trend of wearing a cardigan that doesn’t look like it was designed to be belted, with a belt that doesn’t go with it.

stupidly belted cardigans

I hate this trend!

Seriously, people. Just because the First Lady has spotty fashion sense doesn’t mean the rest of us have to cover for her. She’s not the Queen.
